Huawei’s market share increased significantly from 11% to 15.8% compared to the same period of last year, while Apple’s market share dropped slightly from 12.1% to 11.8% meaning for the first time in 8 years it is not the second largest smartphone manufacturer.
“Huawei’s continued growth is impressive, as well as its market penetration. Not long ago, the brand was largely unknown. Therefore, low-profile brands have great potential”, Ryan Reith, vice president of projects at IDC Global Mobile Tracking stated.
However, Huawei has only surpassed Apple in terms of shipment figures with “small profits but quick returns,” and Apple’s position in the high-end market is still unshakeable.
